Technicolor girl---and a journal page

I hope everyone had a wonderful 4th!! Now, I don't think my girl here enjoyed hers.
She looks pouty, doesn't she? She is just doing her model pose just before she breaks into laughter. This is the best way to describe all of these somber girls I have been painting lately. This is another girl that I pulled from the stash that was colored in with colored pencils so I painted her with acrylic colors. I really do like the open acrylics the best. You can come back and work them a bit more before it dries. But I do mix it with some regular acrylics because I don't have that many colors of the opens.

Here is a quick journal page. I like to try and put an element on each page that I have painted or drawn. The architectural "D-Dream" stamp and a new one that I think is really cool. I am sure you will probably see this one again. I think that this small size of the journal sure does make things quicker.

Just a bit of Collag-ilating

Collag-ilating (verb)--I made up that word. I think I might do a Wikipedia entry. It is when you just start gathering your paints and magazine scraps and stamps and markers and charcoal and packing tape transfers and bits of fabric and just start to collage it on mindlessly, happily and serendipitously until you have something that you like. That is collagilating. This is a piece that started by collagilating and became this. As you see I grabbed those colors again that I must love.

Oh and Happy New Year! I hope that 2010 will be a blessed year for all of you. I love you all---and I love your art. oxox

Calligraphy Practice Pad Book and a Teesha Moore Journal

I don't know if any of you have seen Teesha Moore's Youtube videos on her amazing 16 page journal but it is great but beware...don't start watching them at 10:30 and night because you will be up until 1:30 like my buddy, Lori did. It's great fun and eye candy galore!

And also in this vlog is also my calligraphy practice pad journal book for all of my students who are taking Italic Calligraphy to see how I made a book out of the practice sheets. It was fun to make and it makes practicing fun!

Little Sleeping Village

I enjoyed making the little collage village in my journal so much that I had to make another one on a 12x12 canvas that was already painted black just waiting for something.  This is inspired by Sharon Tomlinson---she put faces among hers which makes them even more fabulous. Anyway, this one will not go into the Etsy Shop since it is too much of a resemblance of hers but they are so fun to make and maybe I will make more because they make me happy. Thanks, Sharon, for making me happy! Maybe I will try stitching all these on to paper. Might be really cute!

Knobby Art--New Etsy Stuff

Well, I have been thinking for quite some time that I needed to put some new things into my ETSY shop before I have to declare a complete need for a bail-out so I created a few new pieces today and took all the old stuff to inactive. It is called "Knobby Art" because the art sits on little knobby feet and is on 5x5 or 4x4 canvas or artist panels. It's fun to create and hopefully people will like it. Here are the Knobbies I created today.
I think the most fun was the "Create" one. I was inspired by the "Griddy Art" article in the Cloth, Paper Scissors magazine. I have so many scraps so maybe the Griddy Art idea will translate onto my Knobby Art.

PS. "Create" sold!

Sursy Givaway!

What is a Sursy?? Well, it a southern term indigenous to the @ Columbia, South Carolina area and on eastward to Charleston. A sursy a little unexpected gift to close friends or family (blog family!) for no special occasion, particular to show affection or thanks.
I think that just about says it all!!
If you have visited my blog before and like my art, I would love to give you the sursy! Just leave me a comment----- and on Saturday at 8:00 EST pm I will choose a name a Random.org and will send your sursy on Monday---just because I am grateful for you and for anyone who will click on my blog and take a gander. Means so much to me!

This is a 5 x 5 x 1 1/2 collaged, mixed-media canvas cube on "feet" and has a beeswax overlay. You can also see it in this post. Thanks!
