I have been practicing my Italic letterforms so I could teach this online class. It is very much like a musician practicing a particular piece for a concert. It takes practice. In fact, the whole art of calligraphy takes just one thing---practice. As as with any art, this is just what it takes. But I do want to present the correct foundation so that anyone who takes this class will have started on the right track and not go on a path with stray strokes, pitfalls, and just all around-- bad letters. Lesson one is in the can and I hope how it will go much faster since I don't have to learn Moviemaker this time! So, I haven't had a chance to create any art but maybe I can sneak in something in between filming. So if you wonder when the Art du Jour is---now you will know!
PS I am pretty sure that by November I should have it all ready but just don't write that with ink yet. And of course it is all--God willing.

How exciting! Love your lettering Martha :) I feel the same way about Moviemaker, now that I know how to use that AND the camera, my next class should come together a lot more easily!
I took Italic Calligraphy many yrs ago and then laid it down which I deeply regret now. So I just signed up for Calligra~fun and would also be very interested in your upcoming calligraphy class. I just love your art. It is gorgeous!Sherry A from Colorado
