I have just started Suzi's new class, "Piety and Passion" and it's going to be really great and for me---kinda hard so far. I have only just done a few videos of lesson one and this is my first time drawing a 3/4 face. It was a struggle most of the way through this painting and I cropped her closer up because the hair was so bad. I need to just sit down and practice some 3/4 faces. It's like practicing calligraphy letterforms--practice practice practice and then your mind starts to get it. In the class we will be drawing Victorian women from the Tudor times and they were stoic, powder faced and regal. It will be fun attempting this. Actually this one was suppose to be a powder faced regal girl but she just turned out to be a hippie I think--with flowers in her hair.

I am taking that class too!! Yes 3/4 and profile are a pain in the butt.
I have done several sketches of queen elizabeth for the class but she's just Ugly(LOL). Glad she can't hear me say that or she might have me beheaded. I am enjoying learning. I love your work and I loved the fabric journal and video you did. Keep up the practice.
Too bad I don't have the budget to take a class now, but it does sound super interesting. The 3/4 profile is challenging and I also like the subject of those portraits of ladies...almost like the religious depictions of that time...very interesting! I agree practice makes perfect :)
Yes, your getting those features in the right place. That has to be the hardest. I've watched all the videos, but yet to try one--today for sure. I hate the process of learning!
3/4 faces are hard,I always have trouble with the noses. And you're right practice, practice! I think she came out beautiful, love your hippie chick!
Hi Martha, again :) YOu know what, I haven't watched it yet, but I will this afternoon. I did like Lee last week though--I think he improved alot

I think this one is pretty good, and I know you will just get better and better.
HI Martha,
I love her intense expression. Don't feel too bad, 3/4 are really hard, can't wait to see the next one.
Three quarter faces are so hard but you have done a great job!!! I really like her skin tone too!! Great work!
What an interesting painting. Actually I never thought about a 3/4 face. I look forward to your beautiful paintings. Happy creating...
wow, martha.....your victorian hippie is beautiful!!! she might only be 3/4 profile, but she's 4/4 gorgeous!!! xox, :))
I love her hippy chick and all. One day I am going to have to take one of her classes. They always look like fun.
