Butterflies are Free

This is a napkin that I collaged into the Moleskine. I held my breath and drew some arms and hands--please do not look too closely or count the fingers because who know how many she has. The roughness of the napkins after it was dry really wasn't a good surface to paint on so I added a little Shiva to her face as a last coat. I wrote some of the " butterflies are free" words and others are digital. Photoshop always seems to add the finishing touches. The page actually started out really bad but I was determined not to lose this spread. This journal is the one with Suzi portraits, Misty portraits and other classes so it's a pretty important one. It's beginning to fill up. She looks like she might be a little nymph I think.

Very nice Martha, I love butterflies! I think I will post some photos of butterflies today now that you have me inspired and thinking of Spring. And yes, that was me that signed up for your class!

She's beautiful, Martha. I love working with the napkins--I like when there's alot of texture.

Love this one Martha! I like the way you are doing your girls hair these days. I always have trouble drawing hair!

Oh this one is beautiful!!
I too love how you are doing the hair. I have always wanted a little color (not the usual hair color) in my hair.

I am glad you left the hands, she needed those arms and hands out to explore those lovely butterflies.

Hugs!

Well Martha, I know what you mean about the roughness of the napkin collage...being the inexperienced artist I am I leave it and someone will ask me how I achieved that....Oh, it's just a technique..hahahaha
You know how I love butterflies so I love the work and I like the face on this girl...the way you painted it makes it stand out.... and I really like what you're doing with the hair....I need to work on that with mine.....haven't gotten up the nerve to try the photo enhancement yet...but I guess that will be next....
Have a great day,
Butterfly

You did it again... I think that going the extra mile to 'save' a piece really puts our mark on the work of art, our blood, sweat and tears...and we feel more accomplished after....I'm glad you kept at this page and didn't throw in the towel, or should I say the napkin.....it's

you guessed it

stunning!!!!!!!!

i love it!

have a great night!
ciao bella
