Loosening Up with Acrylics!

Oh my, it looks so easy when Robert Burridges does it but it's harder than it looks! Here is my first attempt using his methods which are way fun to do! He goes so fast but I can see that it's important to do that so we won't over blend or think too much. These are 5 x 7s . I can really see the "value" of doing this exercise to establish darks and lights but cause if they are not in your painting then the painting is dead and lifeless and as I say, "hokey." I don't want to paint hokey paintings so I will keep doing these exercises...and it's fun. Can you find the magic floating ball?

I believe the magic floating ball is the one on the right....I think it's floating because it's not grounded-not enought shadow under it to "plant" it down!!

These exercises look like fun!!!

What a fun exercise and I, too, believe the floating ball is on the right there.

Enjoy!

Best to you always.....Marilyn xxoo

You are so good about challenging yourself with new exercises. I need to do some of that. Just checked out that website-guess you recommend his dvds? Have you done more than one? Would love your input-I need something for this fall when me kids are back in school to get me out of my artistic rut.

Oh I love these Martha, love the painterly look of them. I wish I could take one of his classes or I wish he offered online classes.

Oh how fun! The other day I happened upon one of his videos and saw him do the pear. He made it look so easy. I may have to try it too at some point.
