Within the Stars

She was a long process in coming forth also. I don't want to say she was trouble but maybe it's just a matter of no paint no gain. I am beginning to think that this is just what I have to go through to paint these bigger pieces. I like her face but I really need to work on those arms just a little bit more before I seal her. This is why I don't do body parts but I an determined to stick with it. I might even do hands sometimes. ( I think I  hear my art devil laughing at me right now saying, "Hands? Sure you are...!") Do any of you have an art devil? He tries to tell you that everything you do is terrible.
Her face and the face of the girl yesterday are painted with Shiva oil sticks. They never fail me when I need to add some blush to the cheeks.
I have one more of these canvases prepared and ready but I think I need a little rest. They wore me out!
She is holding the beginning of Psalm 91 within the heart. I am planning to put a few more phrases from that Psalm from the torn up Bible along the bottom. She has a heart with a handle on the back too! :)

Julia Cameron, the author of The Artist's Way calls that voice The Censor. It often tells me my art is no good, either! I'm glad you don't let it stop you! ~Karen

hahaha I've never heard it called "art devil"! I've heard "Internal Censor", though. I like yours better! He can try and try, but look at the beautiful art you make! So there! :)

Martha, You defeat your "art devil" with every face and flower you create - not to mention your lettering...be gone devil, your tempting the wrong artist here!!! Beautiful...

Another Beautiful girl Martha. Love it. I also love the way you do the sides of the canvas. Very neat. And yes I have a mean voice, but I call her something worst "the mean *itch" she always tells me that I can't draw or paint so just give up. I try not to listen to her. I'm glad you don't listen to yours either. They're so mean....

Love this! Love the colors, love the long, skinny look, love the words. The "art devil"... yes, I have one. And mine is sometimes right! At least when it comes to some projects. But I keep on trying.

Your 2 paintings are so--oh--just sooo perfect!!
YOu know, I have the Shiva sticks, and not quite sure how to use them--do you use your finger to blend them onto the surface?

I'm so glad you aren't listening to the devil! It's a wonderful piece and your faces are so beautiful that no one will notice the football shoulders. LOL Those arms look like mine! Heavy at the top.....LOl I just love your work and it's just perfect to me. Thanks for sharing!

All hearts should have handles :)
She's lovely and I really like that the stars are in front of her.
I really like that you are including the bible texts.
