Imagine---progression

These two above and below are just the closeups of the Golden crackle paste. I added some darker glaze and wiped it off so the crackle would show. I think it kinda got lost in the final one but you can still see it if you look closely.

Now for the first layer of writing. I did this quickly (as you can see!) with a brush.

Then (----time passes...) more layers and stencils. Maybe I should have stopped here...but it doesn't have a focal word element as I had planned.

But here it is...I think it is finished. If I did anything else to it I would probably paint over some elements to tone it down. Hummm...the challenge is--when to call it finished. I guess if I did many of these I would get to know that but I am not sure how long this journey will stay in graffiti-town. It sure is fun though.
The quote says:
"Logic will get you from A to B. Imagination will get you everywhere." -Albert Einstein

Whew! I'm tired now. Time for chocolate!
And here is my thought for the day:
"If anything is worth doing, it's worth overdoing." That might be appropriate for me today. I will look at this piece tomorrow and see if this thought really is true. If they don't sell then I can always paint over them and pretend like it never happened! What happens in Graffiti town stays in Graffiti town.

I love it,love how the words kinda fade out alittle. I was just reading a book and it was talking about how you know when a piece is finished it said "when you are looking hard for things to do on a painting its finished and if you work anymore you will overwork it!" I found it interesting,I always have a habit of adding more!

This is just wonderful! I love that you've posted your process and did you ever get a nice effect with the crackle. I've struggled with getting the deep lines emphasized in the final product when I've used Crackle paste. Love learning from you.

Great graffiti piece. Thanks for showing the progression. I am chopping at the bit to try my hand at this. Seems like fun!

Martha sometimes your comments to yourself are so funny. I love this piece. It did need that big word "Imagine" to pull it all together; and I love the quote. And yes, as you said you can always paint it over but I am guessing you won't have to.

I love the direction your going Martha. I hope you're having lots of fun and loosening up...the advantage of working large.
Great job!

you've really got these layers down, girl! i don't know if i'd have the patience to wait for the paint to dry before i could go on to the next step! and i think it looks fantastic out on your front porch.....really brings out your cheery red door! xox, :))

I am really liking your graffiti artwork. It looks very freeing. The focal word of dream or imagine on each piece really finishes it perfectly. Happy creating...
