Finally..something on this background!

This background has been staring me in the face for months now and since I really like the background I was afraid of messing it up by adding something to it. That happens, you know. But I decided to go for it and do something with it. It is on a 12 x 12 Ampersand cradled board/canvas.  I drew the letters and painted them in. Not great Roman capitals but Reggie is not critiquing at this one so I think I am ok.(Anyone a "Reggie" student?) If you are you will know exactly what I mean. As you can see I added some stamps and my favorite..PUNCHANELLA!!! Oh how I love punchanella.

I went to the Bernina store today!  AND>>>>>I bought one!!!  I got the Artista 220 on sale since they didn't have any refurbished ones. And of course, Macaulay's is way better BUT this one is a sweet machine too. I sat there and sewed a little book together while I was there. I am so excited. I should get it in a few days since they had to order it.  DH had to spot me a little cash to get it but I had most of it.   WEEEeeeee!!!

Transforming Background

This started out as a nice little background that had some yellows and greens that I had painted several weeks ago. I had painted a little head and a face and was proceeding to paint her hair when the wind suddenly blew her hair across her face and ruined her completely. The wind was actually me trying to blow her hair across her face in a natural manner which turned out like she had a mustache in the most unattractive manner. I just couldn't fix her so I got frustrated and painted black gesso all across her and covered the whole thing up. I was mad---but not to be defeated. So I just started putting down colors and as you see--not much black left-- although I intended for a little more to show through. So I think this little $2 canvas panel was saved for now. I will post the finished painting tomorrow---if it works.

Poppies on Paste Paper

These Poppies on paste paper that was in my stash just waiting for something. It is really an interesting piece of paster paper so please do a close up. This is acrylic and I must say I felt like I was out of practice and kept reverting back to watercolor techniques. That's ok if you are using acrylics as watercolor but in this case that was not by plan. I will adhere it to an 11 x 14 Ampersand board and maybe put it into the ReddiArts Show in March.
