Even though I am trying really had to be an oil painter, it is just so fun to stop and go back to some collage and mixed-media techniques. This is a girl I drew for the class, "Drawing the Girls," that I am having a ball filming. These girls are actually how I doodle. You will find them everywhere. They are on scraps of paper, napkins, paper tablecloths at restaurants and even all through my Bible. I like them to be "looking into the Word." I do this sometimes in church but I can listen and draw. Actually it helps me to listen. I never could sit still. I will go over this technique in the class. (Collage--not the drawing in church technique!) Ok---back to filming!

I couldn't resist...
Gouache Resist! Jane Powell, from Random Arts in Saluda, NC posted this tutorial. And I just had to try it. If you have the supplied, which I did, then you should try it. I was so excited when I ran the India Ink under the water and the image emerged. So fun. You must try it!

Chop
This is Chop. He belongs to a precious little girl named Bailey. Chop was lost at the mall but was miraculously found much to Bailey's relief. Bailey's grandmother asked if I would paint chop---so here he is. He is enjoying posing with the pretty flowers.

Glenorchy
For my painting today for 30 Paintings in 30 Days (in which I am very behind!) I decided to paint from a Richard Robinson workshop. I love Richard's paintings and his teaching methods. I always learn something when I do one of his workshops.

The Bridge
I got together with my monthly painting buddies and we painted this bridge form the book, Problem Solving for Oil Painters by Gregg Kreutz. This one was really detailed and complicated with on the background colors but it was fun to paint and even more fun getting together with my buddies.

Charleston Pink House
Charleston Pink House Oil on 9x12 panel |
It really is a challenge to paint everyday. For me it's more about finding the right composition or photo than the actual painting of the painting. That's the fun part. Finding one that inspires me is the challenge!

Happy New Year!
I hope everyone had a great Christmas and New Year's Eve! I have been busy but tried to stop and paint a few things inbetween the busyness. It's nice to slow down now and concentrate on my art goals for 2014. I don't usually make resolutions but I do want to continue to paint and try to constantly improve and maybe do a few more online classes. I always enjoy doing those and I have a few ideas.
This is day two of 30 Paintings in 30 Days by Leslie Saeta. I missed day 1.
It's always good and to do this challenge and see everyone who is participating.
Here is a little birdie that is 6x6. I love to paint birds. They are sweet little things.
