I'm still alive...

Well, I think that Art du jour has turned into "rare art du jour". I have missed creating and posting but I have a block now I think. I have been on a pretty good roll for several years now so maybe I needed a break. My hives are better and have been for several days now. I have de-danderized eveything and if it's Bucky then the de-danderizing is helping. It could be a chemical sensitivity to processed foods and I want to say thank you to Diane for mentioning to me that it could be a Ribo Rash from an MSG-like food enhancer. These are nasty chemicals that are hidden in our tasty processed foods that seem to be causing all sorts of problems. Ok, I admit it, that Pop Tart that I have eaten every day for breakfast for 20 years  has probably poisoned me. I am eating all organic now and we will see if that helps. Now I have to cook rather than creating art. So, now you know my secret, I never cooked. Well, I can't say never, but when I did, I hated every minute of it. I better change my tune. Maybe I will grow to love it. So much for me. I love you all and thank you for your concerns and suggestions. I consider each and every one!

PS. I have been practicing my Copperplate letterforms for wedding invitations for a May wedding of my best friend's daughter. So actually, I have been doing something. I have pages and pages of practice. Maybe I will post one. It's looking better.

  2. Hey girl, good to hear from you and glad that things are turning about. I understand the fallout of MSG, gave that up years back because it also causes migraines. Love the lettering running up the side of that page and it would be fun to see your practice letters! Take care

  3. ahhhh don´t mention hating to cook!!
I HATE it...it takes so much time out of the day and all the cleaning up afterwards...soooooo,
we all have to eat don´t we,,,and we have to eat, CLEAN food,,fresh from the farmer´s market, etc...sooooooo I have it figured out for our family atleast. Use one day a week to do alll the heavy prep work...cleaning all the veg, etc...I cook about 5-6 big bowls of different veg, 3 different sauces. It saves sooo much time during the week and we are eating real food with whatever main course I make and everyone gets to pick whichever sauce they want on said day. Just a suggestion as it remedied a lot around here and everyone is eating better and there are no Pop Tarts to found for miles:)

  5. so glad your hives have begun to subside. Seems I have taken a period of rest from creating for a time too.

    I guess sometimes it's needful.

But even your simple musings in your journal are artful and heart-filled.

    much love!

  9. Oh, that page is GORGEOUS!! *sigh* love it!

I hope you can get the allergy thing figured out. My daughter is highly allergic to several things and it manifests as eczema, so we have to be fairly diligent about what she eats/touches because it could turn into major skin problems. But once you figure it out, prevention goes a LONG way (within reason!)

  10. Hi Martha,
You make me laugh, now you have to cook! lol
OK, I'd like to be in my studio more and in the kitchen less-how have you managed to get away with that for sooo long?

Your latest page is fabulous and I'm looking forward to seeing your copperplate invitations.

Sounds like you have your hives under control, lets hope they stay that way.
    Hugs,
    Anna

  13. Hi Martha, I am soo sorry that you have been going through such a difficult time with hives. They are so miserable. itching is the worst. I will pray harder for you, my dear. happy cooking...ick. I have to admit, I cooked for 25 years and now that I have an empty nest, I would prefer to never cook again. Give me paint and stencils and pens and fabric, and a bowl of cold cereal!

  19. Hi Martha! I'm glad to hear that things are going better for you. I hope that you can figure out the culprit that is causing these hives! It would seem to me that it has to be something NEW in your life or you would have had problems before this. But then, what do I know? LOL!!!
Been thinking about ya and praying that you get better. We miss your daily posts!
    Love and hugs, Sue

  20. Hi Martha: I am so thankful that you are feeling a bit better. Your health is much more important than blogging. You have posted so many beautiful pieces of art that we could review them forever and not get bored while you are taking a rest and break. Funny how cooking is not my favorite activity either. I would much rather be creating something that lasts longer than a quickly eaten meal. Health to you my dear...

  23. Lovely journal pages Martha! I'm happy to see you are practicing Copperplate. ;) Your friend is being treated to a special gift. It speaks volumes about how much she means to you by the time and effort you are putting into lettering the invitation envelopes for her daughter's wedding. They are going to be fabulous!
