New Flowers for a New Year


I have been down with a nasty old cold and coughing thing since right after Christmas but I have gotten up to paint when I would have an upswing. I painted this yesterday. I got some new paints (to add to the warehouse of other paints I have!) It is Australian Sienna Structure Acrylic by Matisse.  I know that I could easily mix this color it's nice to have it in a jar. It comes pretty dark in the jar but mixes down to almost a lemon yellow. I love it.
Since I have been in my "pear phase" I haven't painted in flowers in a far in so long I was afraid I had forgotten how.
This one is on a 6x8 sheet of Twinrocker 140 lb watercolor paper. I love the deckled edge.

    Oh ha! That is a funny one! Hope you are feeling all better over the weekend, Martha. I am trying to get over sinus and ear infections still, too. Seems an awful lot of illness happened over our busy holidays.... Your flowers and vase, oooh, are gorgeous! Happy New Year to you! Kath

    I have to say...I could gaze at your flowers all day! I absolutely love them! Trying to avoid the sick people in this house...so far the score for the cold/cough is boys = 3; girls = 0. Hope to keep it that way! Feel better soon!

    Wow Martha...your flowers are gorgeous. I love the splash of green in the vase on the left. The flower colors all tie in so nicely. What a classic look.
