Still small but thinking about bigger...

Conversation in my head goes like this...Right brain says, "Go ahead, Martha, you can do it. Just go on out into your place in the red shed and you can paint the big one! You don't even have to worry about dripping paint!" But the left brain says, "Yeah but it's hot out there and your flowers really don't look like flowers they are just smudges of paint that don't even look that good anyway." Right brain says, "Martha, if you listen to that left brain then you will never paint the big one. Just go do it!"

Ok, I think I am going to listen to the right brain and go for it. Really I am! When, I am not sure, but I AM going to do it! I need to get me an air conditioner out there.

  1. Hi Martha! I went to sleep last night thinking about you beautiful small flowers and vase with the purple background and kept thinking what a great way to just learn the process without making a big committment to a big field of work. So, relax. When the weather is cooler you will be happy to go BIG. In the meantime, just play and be comfortable. Your work is always a treat to my eyes.

  5. Your flowers are lovely and exactly the style I really enjoy. Did you take a class or are you developing in this direction by yourself?

  6. Yes Martha...your flowers are awesome. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the abstractness of them and wish I could paint flower that looked so beautifully simple. Go for it...early morning while the air is still a little cooler and worst case...you learn something and can always paint over it!!!

  8. To the barn with you! Hey are those rununculas? My absolute favorite flower??? This is a lovely work of art. Now, here's my theory about working big. If you work in a small space you will create small art. If you work in a big open space you will make big art. Agree? Disagree?

  10. Remind me again-are you doing a video workshop or online one? Wasn't it Robert Burridge? Would love more info on what you're doing to loosen up.
