Poppy Whimsy

Here is another whimsy painting. This one is 5x7 and didn't take very long to paint but for some reason I had trouble with it and changed colors all around and struggled. I am working on a larger piece but it is taking much longer. This is actually not a very quick process! But very fun though!
Here is the WIP below. It's 12 x 24. That large for me!

    i think the poppies are lovely, but i am wondering if the background around the leaves and stems are too close in color. seems like with this style of painting you need a lot of contrast...just a thought.

    Poppies are lovely, but agree that perhaps a little more contrast around the leaves and flowers might just make this pop!!! Can't wait to see more in this medium.

    I agree with Mary. Martha, try to add some more shadows so there will be more contrast.

    Martha I'm enjoying watching your progress. I'm taking the class, too, and using it together with other techniques in a large canvas.
