Mixed Media Girls

This was a very unplanned mixed media piece today. I haven't done one of these in a long time since I have been mostly working in my journal. I started off with other plans for this 8 x 10 board. I had plans to print on some tissue paper and put it on this board but that was a bust (even after I spent a long time researching it on youtube) so I scrapped off the gunk left by the tissue paper and started this one. I couldn't let this poor little board end in a failure. I was going to put a quote but I couldn't find the one that I liked.  I think that they are sisters, maybe even twins. I have always secretly wished I had a twin.  I enjoyed painting them and bringing them to life.

    Martha, I think these are the sweetest faces you've painted yet! I always love looking at your blog. (And speaking from personal experience, I have to say that having an identical twin sister is wonderful.)

    They are so beautiful. I especially like the white against the background of their shirts. Some "failures" (the tissue paper!) were meant to be!

    I am drawn to this piece. The background is exquisite and I like the faint writing and the girls themselves. Your 'mess up' story is encouraging as well.

    This turned out fabulously! I love the concept of 'sisters' as I have two older ones (I have brown hair, my middle sis has red hair and my oldest sis has blond - thanks for making me think of them!)

    Oh my, this made me tear up. It immediately reminded me of my sister, her with lighter brown hair, me with dark in front. Then you said maybe they are sisters. I miss mine, she is young and not speaking to any family. Oh now the tears are streaming, but thank you Martha for sharing your beautiful art, so so lovely. :)
