For the January Blessings- Journal Page

Several of my bloggette buddies are picking out words for this year so maybe I will pick a word ---or maybe several words. I think Agape will be one...watching, and... hope. Ok, so those are my three words. I'll probably change them tomorrow.

Yes, very thankful indeed. I am still working in the little Red art journal and still just trying to work intuitively and just let the pages evolve. Some start out really really bad but with a little stickability and pushing through it usually can turn out to something I can live with.

  1. Oh my, I have never seen one of your journal pages that I did not love, and I really mean that.

Oh, I forgot to tell you. For Christmas my son gave me a calligraphy set. A lovely wooden box with lots of colors of ink and a pen with nibs. He did not even know I was going to take your class. :)
Maybe it's a sign!! Now, I assume the nibs are for right handed people. Do I have to buy a new pen, or is there some attachment I can purchase that holds the nibs at a different angle?? I ask this because I think I have seen something like that.

Marthy, thank you for your sweet, encouraging comments on my home and work.

    agape,
    Mary

  3. Hi Martha,
I'm with Mary: all of your work is fabulous!!
And-you must be a mind-reader because all yesterday and this morning I've been pondering a 'word for the year'. I have one picked out but as you said It'll probably change in a few days. I hope you're staying warm.

  4. Hi Martha,

I am so drawn to your journal pages and want to be just like you when I grow up (IF I ever grow up)!

I have to admit that for just a nanosecond, I thought your word was agape - with mouth wide open in astonishment (maybe not a bad word either) and then realized the capital A made it not only pronounced differently, but made it have a totally different meaning.

I like this word - it is a very good one.

Thank you so much for sharing your lovely work,

    xoxo

  8. Very beautiful pages Martha! I love this serene looking girl. So it sounds like I just need to have more stickability and pushing through attitude with the few journal pages I've tried and were disappointed in. Maybe I can go back and have new inspiration to finish them in another way, as you do.

I like all of your WORDS for 2010. I especially like HOPE... we can all use much of that and can also give it out to so many who need it. Believe it or not, your art and instructions give me hope to be a become a better artist. Thanks!

I know I have said this before, I do envy your beautiful letters that you create. I wish I could do calligraphy but I just do not think I have the patience.. Or is that just an excuse..LOL..

  15. Gorgeous, Martha! Your gothic lettering adds so much to each page. I love your words as well. I can never pick words that I stick with -- usually within a few months, something emerges that God is working in me. It's usually a complete surprise, but perfect for my life!
