Can you believe it---they are not Poppies! They are vey similar though. I bought a second- hand Tulip book and when it comes I will study the Tulip and it's structure; where and how the stem grows and how it opens, then hopefully.... I will be more able to "acurately paint them abstractedly." That's a BIG "hopefully". I still love my Poppies--always. This one is only about 5x8 from my small pad.
well, your first attempt is wonderful! i've tried tulips and find them difficult to capture and usually just move on to something else!
ReplyDeletei can't wait to see more of your tulips...your first painting is great! :)
ReplyDeleteOh I agree this is a wonderful painting and doesn't look at all like a "first". Well done!!
ReplyDeleteI love the tulips Martha - they have turned out wonderfully, looking forward to seeing more of them.
ReplyDeleteEven if it is a first, it's beautiful. You've done a wonderful job at capturing the essence of them.
ReplyDeleteI need to practice my drawing skills for the same reason. I feel that if I truly want to grow as an artist, I need to refine my basic skills first and foremost.
